About the
photographer
Barbara Wood
was born in
Alabama and makes her home there today working as a
freelance photographer. In 1992, after graduating with a
Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, she went
to work for the state of Alabama. Throughout her life
she has always had an interest in the arts, returning to
school in 2001 to take courses in the arts. Her love for
photography blossomed with the advent of digital
photography. After purchasing her first digital camera,
she was hooked.
In 2005, she began her new career as a wildlife and
nature photographer, shooting most of her images in
Alabama, Florida, Louisiana and Tennessee. Barbara is
self-taught and has spent much time in the field gaining
experience as an outdoor photographer. Although her
first love is wildlife photography, her work continues
to evolve and her focus continues to move toward fine
art photography. Barbara’s images are all digital and
were all taken with a Canon EOS-1Ds camera. She does her
own printing and framing, working from her home office
in Alabama.
Barbara’s
outdoor
photography has been published in Arkansas Wildlife
magazine, Louisiana Life magazine, Louisiana Sportsmen
magazine, and Outdoor Alabama’s calendar. She
participates in numerous art shows throughout the year
in Alabama, Mississippi and Florida and her work is
displayed in several local art galleries. When she’s not
busy selling her work, she spends time in the field
shooting. Her favorite places are the Great Smoky
Mountains National Park in Tennessee and Everglades
National Park, Fort DeSoto Park, and Merritt Island
National Wildlife Refuge in Florida.
