The History of My Rustic Wood Frames
Most of the wood used to make my frames is heart
pine. Some of the wood is estimated to be as old as 200 years. The wood was
originally used to build houses on Searcy Plantation, located in Butler
County, Alabama, during the Civil War era. In the late forties to early
fifties, some houses on the plantation were torn down and the wood used
again to construct other houses for a nearby property owner. In 2006, the
son of the property owner who constructed those new houses in the forties
and fifties dismantled those houses and allowed me to use some of the old
lumber to build my rustic frames. These frames have quite a history.
